Renters

Don’t wait, renters insurance covers liability and personal property (e.g., fire). Shop instant plans or contact us for full carrier options. Available in PA, MD, DE, NJ, IL and FL (carrier-dependent).

Landlord

Landlord insurance protects your rental property and income from damage, liability claims, or lost rent. It covers the building, detached structures, and legal costs if someone is injured.

Unlike homeowners policies, it’s tailored for rentals, helping you recover from fire, storms, or vandalism so your investment and rental income stay protected. Available in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Illinois (varies by carrier).

Unique Structures

Log cabins, dome shaped homes and other unique structures offer inspiring ways to live, but aren’t always the easiest to insure. Thankfully, we have options for these type of homes as well. Available in Pennsylvania.

 FAQs

  • Most standard policies include these kinds of coverages:

    • Dwelling/Structure Coverage (often called “Coverage A”) – pays to repair or rebuild your home if it’s damaged by a covered peril.

    • Other Structures Coverage – covers detached structures on your property (garage, shed, fence) under “Coverage B.”

    • Personal Property Coverage – protects your belongings (furniture, electronics, clothing) under “Coverage C.”

    • Loss of Use / Additional Living Expenses (ALE) – pays for temporary living costs if your home becomes uninhabitable due to a covered loss.

    • Liability Coverage – helps protect you if someone is injured on your property or you cause damage to someone else’s property and are held legally responsible.

  • There are some common exclusions and limitations:

    • Damage from flooding or earthquakes — these events often require separate policies or endorsements.

    • Routine maintenance issues, wear & tear, termite/pest damage. For example, termite damage is typically not covered.

    • Items whose value exceeds the standard personal property limits may need additional scheduled coverage (e.g., for jewelry, fine art).

    • If a home is in a flood zone, standard home insurance usually won’t cover flooding — separate flood insurance is required.

  • Some of the major factors include:

    • Age, condition, and construction of your home (roof type, wiring/plumbing, square footage)

    • Location (crime rates, distance to fire hydrant/fire station, weather risk)

    • Deductible amount: higher deductible = lower premium, but more out-of-pocket risk if you file a claim.

    • Claims history (homeowner’s claim history) and credit/risk profile (where permitted)

    • Safety/security features: alarms, deadbolts, sprinkler systems may reduce premium.

    • Raise your deductible (if you can afford the out-of-pocket cost)

    • Maintain and update your home (roof, wiring/plumbing, safety systems)

    • Bundle your home policy with other insurance lines (auto, umbrella) for discounts

    • Ask about discounts for security systems, fire alarms, newer construction

    • Shop around periodically to compare carriers and renewals
